Stonewall Jackson High School choirs have been recognized throughout their long history for their outstanding performances. In 2019, all five choirs earned an overall Superior rating at Virginia Choral Assessment. Along with the SJHS band and orchestra, the choirs were awarded the VMEA Blue Ribbon Award and NAMM SupportMusic Merit Award.
The program consists of five ensembles, Vocal Ensemble (20 singers SATB), Concert Choir (45 singers SATB), Bella Voce (20 singers SSA), Jacksonians (20 singers TBB), and Cantus (40 singers SSA).
David Mann is a teacher, conductor, and singer active in the Washington D.C. area. He studied for his M.M. in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University and earned a B.M. in Music Education from James Madison University. In 2018, Mr. Mann was recognized nationally when he was named the winner of the American Prize in Choral Conducting - Collegiate/University Division. As a guest clinician and presenter, Mr. Mann has presented on developing tenor and bass voices, choral vocal pedagogy, and conducted regional honor choir events in the state of Virginia. Currently, he directs the choirs at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas,Virginia and sings with the St. Catherine of Siena Choir, National Cathedral Choir, and National Shrine Choir in D.C.
Lee Ann Renfro has served as an accompanist at Stonewall Jackson High School for eight years. Her passion for serving our community goes beyond music, as she also serves as a financial assistant and uniform coordinator for our program. Outside of Stonewall, Lee Ann passionately serves her community through her church and enjoys spending time with her family.
